Anna Golbov

Ms. Golbov was born singing, or so her mom says; and much to the annoyance of her tolerant older brother, she simply would not stop--even humming incessantly while chewing her food at the dinner table.  At age 14, when her mom decided that she was ready for voice lessons, Ms. Golbov began studying classical and contemporary voice with teacher Tammy Thompson.  She gained the attention of her teachers and peers right away, and was invited to sing in the recital of one of her studio-mates.  She also appeared in such shows as South Pacific, Guys and Dolls, The Man Who Came to Dinner, and Into the Woods at her high school, and she was honored with the opportunity to sing the role of one of her most beloved characters, Mary Poppins, in the show choir’s Mary Poppins Medley.

Shortly after she began her voice lessons, Ms. Golbov realized that she’d found her calling and decided to pursue a musical higher education.  She received a Bachelor of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she studied with San Francisco Opera’s Catherine Cook, and was honored to receive the Phyllis G. Wattis Memorial Scholoarship to aid her in her studies.

While attending the Conservatory, Ms. Golbov maintained a busy performance schedule, putting particular emphasis on the Musical Theater Ensemble’s offerings.  Her performances at SFCM included the Broadway musicals Little Women, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, and Myths and Hymns, several revue-style performances including shows devoted to the works of composers Stephen Sondheim and Kurt Weill, and an abridged production of Kurt Weill’s Mahagoney. She also put on Spring semester solo recitals in both her Junior and Senior years.

Ms. Golbov is constantly pushing her limits as a performer and actress with the perfect compliment to her outgoing personality and love for children in her job as an entertainer for children’s parties, where she does magic, paints faces, makes balloons animals, and sings her heart out.

At the present time Ms. Golbov is participating in Nevada Opera’s show choir  P’Opera and preparing for a fundraising recital to raise support for her impending move to London to study for a Masters Degree in Musical Theatre at the prestigious Mountview Academy.  She looks forward to the recital (details to be released shortly) and is ecstatic for the opportunity to study abroad at such a reputable establishment.  Ms. Golbov is accepting sponsorship for this momentous adventure, and if you’d like to help her you can do so through PayPal by clicking the “Donate” button above.  Your support is greatly appreciated!
